The 0.7.6 MLT was still giving me problems once I loaded a clip onto the timeline, I don't know what it is but the whole thing just feels incredibly buggy (I've already started a new thread on the current MLT in the repositories). Even basic tasks such as applying a speed variation can slow down the system massively and cannot be worked with efficiently. Sometimes the audio will refuse to play, which is crucial when I'm trying to sync the video with the accompanying soundtrack. Worst of all though, I cannot handle the situation when trying to mix and match certain tasks with other video editors. Kdenlive seems to be more picky about formats and crashes less, but is even more sluggish than Openshot and will eventually hang after a few minutes. Cinelerra works beautifully if you have the processing power and I did actually manage to edit my entire video on it, but it will only export in separate video and audio formats (.m2v and .m2a) for HD video which cannot be bound together (the files are also god damn HUGE!). None of the other video editors support that format (VLC player will play it though) so I'm left in an impossible situation. I cannot deal with mix and matching. Openshot does seem to have the most potential in the Linux video-editing world, just a shame it refuses to work for me.
Mind you, I'm not missing out on too much because Pinnacle Studio 14 for Windows 7 was also absolute rubbish particularly with transitions, see here
. But, my unfinished projects list is kinda piling up so getting a video editor or a combination of video editors to work for me at the moment is of the highest priority.
