simple theme

Postby fedutov » Wed Dec 16, 2009 5:00 pm

Hello!

I'm a software developer and use open shot video editor at my laptop (screen resolution is 1280x768). I found current themes consume too much space. So I've created a simple theme based on the one from initial package.

Changes are:
- buttons size reduced.
- track, rule and video clip styles are changed a bit.

In attachement you can find packed theme and screenshot of it.

To use it unpack archive to the openshot/themes directory

I put it in /home/vadi/.openshot/themes/simple but it's not showing up in preferences.

It shows for me under preferences. Is the /.openshot folder the right place for the themes folder? Are the folders for blue_glass and tango there? I would have thought that the themes folder would be under the main openshot folder in /usr/local or wherever Openshot ends up being installed to.

I don't actually have Openshot installed as such, I run it from my development branch, so can't tell you the actual folder location :?

It's a nice theme by the way.

http://www.openshotvideo.com/2009/10/op ... tango.html

- "please locate the /openshot/themes/ folder, and take a look around. It should be fairly straight-forward how things work."

A specific folder location isn't given by JT... as it says in the code :
Code: Select all
      # define common directories containing resources
      # get the base directory of the openshot installation for all future relative references
       # Note: don't rely on __file__ to be an absolute path. E.g., in the debugger (pdb) it will be
      # a relative path, so use os.path.abspath()
      self.BASE_DIR = os.path.dirname(os.path.dirname(os.path.dirname(os.path.abspath(__file__))))
      self.THEMES_DIR = os.path.join(self.BASE_DIR, "openshot", "themes")

I don't quite follow that chunk of Python 100%, but it doesn't seem to be a hidden .openshot folder in the home folder, but relative to the app itself?

OK, I've just installed OS 0.9.54 on a persistent USB stick of Linux Mint 8

I have folders blue_grass and tango in /usr/share/openshot/themes

.. and I've just installed "simple", although I needed to extract into my home folder, then open the themes folder as root, then copy it in 8-)

Yes that's the reason as to why it should follow the standard terminology of both /usr and /.openshot. I'll file a report.

@fedutov
Whaoou Wonderfull
very nice theme, i hope that Jonathan wil integre him in the next version (after the version 1.0.0 final :mrgreen: of course)
Hum and wonderfull planes - a sukkoi su 27 at right and a su24 at left (an old pane ;) ) and i see too a mikoyan-gourevitch mig-29 at the extrem right. I can see the others. Yeahh :o
@Andy
No for the.openshot folder for the themes and all the important thinks (transitions, effects, themes, titles). In the .openshot it's also the xml files which are here.and it's the reason why we destroy this folder and why Jonathan asked us if we have the same problem (after a update) to keep this folder and the files and so understand why the xml file is not generated correctly.
@Diode
Yes it's the folder /usr/share/openshot/themes where you can put this theme. in using root.
In fact, all that you want to add in openshot (transitions, effects, themes, titles) is in the place /usr/share/openshot and after you put the right folder (transitions, effects, themes, tiltes) in using root. And it works fine! :lol:
Exemple with a transition .i do
sudo mv mynewtransition /usr/share/openshot/transitions/
