Deshaking -- with the latest OpenShot v2.2.0

Postby RonC55 » Wed Dec 21, 2016 4:02 pm

I just searched for the terms 'deshake' and then, 'stabilize' on this forum and got zero hits -- a surprise -- so if I'm on the wrong sub-forum, 8-) please direct me to the right place.

If this is the right place, my first question:
:?: What's the best way to go about stabilization/deshaking with the latest version 2.2.0?

I have read you can add plugins just be dropping the right .xml file into the /effects folder.

The linked advice is a few years old, but I can find nothing more recent, so I'm wondering if it still applies to the now-current version.

Second question:
:?: Is it best to search for an .xml file for vid.stab (is there a download link, anywhere?) which presumably would then appear in the effects menu, or do you get a superior result by doing the stabilization with virtual dub running under wine?

Third question:
:?: I (think I) am running vid.stab from terminal with the transcode-transform-stabiilze commands and parameters, and this allows two-pass stabilization. If I succeed in adding vid.stab to the OpenShot menu, I am guessing this would allow only single-pass stabilization? If I'm incorrect please let me know and also tell me how double-pass would be implemented in this circumstance.

Any other suggestions, as to how other OpenShot users are now doing this, given the capabilities of the recently-released v2.2.0?

This option of adding effects is not available for Openshot 2.x. Openshot 1.x never allowed for multi pass effects.

Would you explain to me what "multi pass effect" is? Maybe I could add it to LibreShot! :D

In case of deshaking that means that you have an analysis pass to detect the shakiness and then a pass to remove the shakiness.

And this is done through a plug-in that must be called twice?

I am not sure how the call is done but here are different documentations:

Ok. Now DeShake Effetc/Filter is in 1.4.x release.
I've not a clip to test it. Someone can do it?

This filter is only in LibreOffice version; a fork from OpenShot 1.4.x in the https://github.com/XXLRay/libreshot.git repository.
