Slow rendering titles w/ hybrid laptop

Postby Trashking » Tue Mar 04, 2014 4:46 pm

Hi there,

I am running Openshot on a laptop with a pretty good setup: i7-3610QM Processor (2.3 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) and NVIDIA GT 630M Graphics with 1GB GDDR3 memory [HDMI, VGA]

This laptop also has intel hybrid for video as well. The problem is that rendering in openshot (blender) is horrendously slow—like 1 frame a minute or less. I have installed bumblebee primus and I run openshot from the terminal like so:

optirun openshot

I do so In order to make openshot use my nvidia card, but I have no idea what is actually being used or if I am doing something wrong. Or, am I just stuck with this crazy slow rendering?

Any help is greatly appreciated... Thanks!

There is no code in Openshot to make use of a graphics card for extra processing power.

Rendering in Blender can be extremely time consuming, so I'm not surprised by those figures.
