choppy audio

Postby aaronLund » Mon Mar 21, 2011 5:04 am

I installed openshot via the ppa on Ubuntu 10.0.4 today (kxstudio, actually.....if that rings a bell).

I'm having the same issue with audio that I had in kdenlive: really choppy audio.

Interestingly enough, if I hide the video (by clicking on the little camera icon) the audio plays fine so I'm wondering if it's been a video config issue this whole time (with both openshot and kdenlive)??

This happens on both the avi file as well as the ogv that I'm trying to edit.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks.

You should try playing your files with both the ffplay & melt command line players. What format/quality are your video files?

I'm having this same issue. I tried running the video in both melt and ffplay. It runs fine with melt, but is choppy with ffplay.

The advice given is the same for you. i.e
What format/quality are your video files?
and for more explanantions, run openshot in a console and copy/paste it here.

Anyway, the first thing to do is to check all your dependencies see here : http://openshotusers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=758
Thanks.

I am brand new to Openshot so not sure if it's me, my computer or the program but here's what happens to my video...

I add the audio track and then the video track. I turn the audio off on the video that I've uploaded so it doesn't interfere w/ the audio I want to play. And when I preview the audio and video together on play, it's not bad. Not perfect, a little choppy but not really bad at all. Then I go to add an effect on the video of any kind and now the preview plays the audio very choppy and the video itself isn't smooth either. Doesn't matter which effect I use. I'm wondering if this could be a RAM issue on my part but then I see other's with choppy audio issues here in this forum, and think maybe it's not my computer. Has anyone found a fix for this or do we know for certain it is not a bug or program issue?

Hi,
I don't think so that a Hardware bug (i.e. your memories). I'll said that more a MLT bug. The fact that you can heart well the audio and the fact that's choppy when you add an effect. Hum which one version of Openshot do you use ?
Thanks.

That remind me my problem with the preview...

I've noticed that, if I use a audio player while openshot is open, I have a sort of repetitiv noise on the top of the music being played...

By the way, I also use Ubuntu 10.0.4...
