with all the great transitions there is just one missing and that is composite

Not quite sure what you mean - OpenShot already automatically composites each track as you layer clips on top of each other. Or do you mean something else?

My guess is that he means composite modes, like add, subtract, multiply, screen, overlay and so on. It would be nice to have these as one effect with a list where you select the one you want, and an opacity control to adjust the amount.
