Mi videos Won't fit the whole screen

Postby nostromo » Thu Apr 26, 2012 9:09 pm

Every time a make a video with Open-shot.it doesn't fit the whole screen,I've tried different combinations when exporting, but it always ends in "720" size instead of "1920*1080"
I also tried opening a new project with the screen ratio I want.
This time i could give the option "1080" size ,but with no success in the end result.
Could somebody enlighten me about this problem.
Thank you very much.

Have you chosen a 1920*1080 profile in the export dialog?

What are the properties of your exported video? Right click on it and view the properties.

Here,
the properties are right, but still the video won't fit the whole screen.
But the videos I've downloaded fro u-tube can be seen on the whole screen ,so it is not a screen or player issue

If your mp4 is really 1920x1080 like your properties dialogue seem to mention, then it seems to be your media player who is to blame.
- Does your media player do some automatic "fit to screen" resizing?
- Did you already try another media player like VLC? (the best I think, I have problems with totem all the time)
- Try some get some info with ffprobe (comes with ffmpeg), like ffprobe <moviename.mp4>

ffprobe is a command line tool. You need to go into a terminal and simply type "ffprobe <video name>" or "ffmpeg -i <video name>"

Another option is to go into a terminal and type "melt <video name>". melt belongs to MLT which is the media framework used by openshot. melt is the player/analyzer. Check if melt plays it on the correct size.

I also had the same problems with a 1440 x 1080 resolution of the film.
I solved this by playing with the pixel ratio by changing this from 1:1 to 4:3
After this the black frame was gone and it was in full screen mode.
You best can experiment with very short clips to have a quick result.
Good luck.
