oss4 support?

Hi,

I installed openshot on debian testing and it looks quite nice but my dv files have no sound. I'm using oss4 rather than alsa because the sound quality (to my ears) is better. I didn't see a place to choose sound server anywhere in the preferences. Maybe debian built the package without oss4 support? Anyway, is it possible to get support for oss4 if I build it from source?

I don't think. At least not directly in the code.

What do you use ? libsdl-debian or libsdl-pulseaudio

You should perhaps check in pulseaudio or at least the sound manager of your distribution.

Thanks for the reply, I just got openshot running on archlinux and oss4 sound works just fine. On debian I used a .deb file to install oss4, I'm going to try building it from source and see what happens. Anyway, openshot does support oss4. Good news!

Northing have been done for that directly in Openshot.
Perhaps in MLT but I got some doubts. Which version are you using on the both ? It can be explain this issue.
Other track for that, I know that Alsa had the emulation for oss, and it can explain too this support. BTW, I was thinking that the oss project was dead. Happy to see that he exists always and go onward.

openshot is version 1.4.2-1
mlt is version 0.7.8-2
oss is version 4.2_2006-1

and everything works fine.
